Entire Re-mastered Gumby Collection Released on DVD in Australia

Lucky Australian Gumby fans are the first to get the full library of re-mastered Gumby episodes from 1956 through the ‘80s in a new collector’s edition DVD set. 209 episodes, over 21 hours of Gumby adventures, are included in this tin, which is being sold exclusively in Australia.

Gumby Australia DVD Set

The Clokey family has gone back to the original archived film rolls that Art Clokey shot to re-master them. The original film was well preserved. The color and clarity are amazing! This is the very first time that these re-mastered episodes, with their original soundtracks, are available on DVD anywhere in the world. The re-mastered footage renders Gumby bigger and brighter than you’ve ever seen him.

While this set is only available in Australia, we’re looking forward to a U.S. release. Stay tuned!

Me want this! And now that Blu-ray is standard, please release an HD set with lots of features and interviews. Let the crew be heard, and let the top animators around the world sing Gumby’s praises! ha. It seems like you’ve put care into making sure the episodes are accurately ordered and cut, and I hope all the titles and credits/logos/music/sound are original too. I saw an episode, granted it was a Japanese dub, that had a different soundtrack that seemed to conform more to the 80s series even though it was an older episode. (Like the newer sound effects were used for going into a book. I found a different version where an old cartoony sound was used. I like both, I just like to see it how it was originally shown.) OK, enough rambling. Thanks to Joe Clokey for taking such good care of Gumby!

Why no news yet about a US release? I
Am tempted to purchase the Australian edition. It’s been over a year since this has been announced. And agree, please be a blu ray release so that all of the restoration efforts can be appreciated and rejoiced!

We are working with a DVD producer/distributor in the U.S. who will get the entire Gumby collection into the mass market. We don’t have the final details of their schedule, but we’re looking forward to a 2015 release for Gumby’s birthday.

I agree w/others that it should be released in the US.

I grew up watching the orig. 50 & 60’s versions & the 80’s version on VHS tapes. 🙂
